Fundraising

Let's face it, the economy is tough! This makes support for non-profit charities challenging. Fundraising is the only way we can continue to help these very special children and affected adults. We cannot complain though because the day to day struggles that our children endure and often with smiles on their faces is so much greater, that we must keep going!! Our children's disorders are medically classified as "rare". Therefore, the pool of people aware of these medical challenges is small. Therefore, we must band together. Our message about the importance of monitoring a child's growth to "catch things" before permanent damage to a child happens is crucial information. Every single parent should know these facts! Therefore, we take to the neighborhood streets, local gyms and school tracks, even our own treadmills and Walk-for-MAGIC, participate in marathons and many other projects. Families from throughout the United States conduct local walk-a-thons to help raise the money desperately needed for educational programs, to assist families whose insurance has denied them and maintain all of the necessary services provided by the foundation.

Introduction to Team MAGIC

“Your behavior influences others through a ripple effect. A ripple effect works because everyone influences everyone else. Powerful people are powerful influences.” – John Heider.

Throughout the year, individuals participate in local marathons on behalf of The MAGIC Foundation. They raise funds and awareness of their efforts to benefit the children and services provided. If you are participating in a local marathon, consider Running For MAGIC! We will help get the word out about your efforts! Each year, Team MAGIC chooses one specific city to run in together. Runners, fly in from around the country to participate as a Team MAGIC. Some people opt to run the Half while others run the full marathon. Some choose to do a walk/run although there are time constraints! Everyone trains and raises money in their name on behalf of the Foundation. It is amazing when everyone is gathered at the pre-event dinner wearing their MAGIC shirts! The money raised helps to pay for the Annual Educational Conventions. Entire families sometime show up as grandparents, spouses and others support family efforts. At the conclusion of the race, everyone has a sense of accomplishment. A goal was set, sacrifices were made and children were helped.

As often as possible, we choose locations for the Team MAGIC even which are family friendly. If interested in joining Team MAGIC, contact dianne@magicfoundation.org for details.

The Independent Charities Seal of Excellence is awarded to Charities of America that have, upon rigorous independent review, been able to certify, on an annual basis that they meet the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness.

These standards include those required by the US Government for inclusion in the Combined Federal Campaign, probably the most exclusive fund drive in the world.

Of the 1,000,000 charities operating in the United States today, it is estimated that fewer than 50,000, or 5 percent, meet or exceed these standards, and, of those, fewer than 2,000 have been awarded this Seal. MAGIC's CFC #10388.
