If you look at the growth chart below- (we used a girls chart for this example), you can see how a 6 year old girl who measured 45 inches was marked on the 50th percentile. If she follows her natural growth curve (thicker fuzzy line) she will vary a little bit but always grow close to that same percentile throughout her growing years. To find the percentile, follow the line all the way to the right. There you will see marking from the 3rd percentile to the 97th percentile.
Remember, even if your child is on the lower end, or the upper end - if that is their normal growth pattern each time they are measured...chances are that they are doing just fine! Always check with your child's physician for diagnosis and evaluations!
