Hello Everyone!
My name is MacKenzie Kimball and I am the new adult coordinator for the Russell-Silver Syndrome (RSS) division of the MAGIC Foundation. As a 24 year old with RSS I am frustrated by the lack of information and research about how the syndrome will affect me as an adult. When I turn to medical professionals looking for answers to my questions, I usually find myself educating them about the RSS, something I’m sure you all have experienced. But rather than let our questions go unanswered, let’s do something about it.
Until more research is done about the syndrome, the best resource for RSS adults is each other. My goal is to help open the lines of communication between RSS affected adults and establish a way for us to discuss our issues and seek answers to our questions. My first step in doing this was to create an online networking group that gives adults with RSS the opportunity to discuss issues, ask questions, share stories, and network with each other. Although there is already a Google group for RSS adults, it has been inactive for quite some time and, since I am unable to locate the original owner, I cannot assume responsibility of the group. Therefore, I established a new Yahoo group for RSS adults. To join this group, click the following link: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RSSadults/
In addition to the Yahoo group, I am planning to send occasional group emails to any interested RSS adults that will contain news and useful information. If you would like to continue receiving my emails, please email me (AdultRSS@magicfoundation.org) and let me know. I will only continue sending emails to people who have requested to receive them.
I am very excited to get things rolling with this networking group for RSS affected adults and hope to provide more services, resources, and communication opportunities in the near future. Please feel free to email me with any questions or ideas you have.
Best,
MacKenzie Kimball
