Introduction to Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (also called CAH)

Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) is a complicated medical condition which can affect people in different ways.

Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia has 3 "versions"

#1 - people have a problem with salt wasting,
#2 - non-salt wasting (still with the diagnosis of Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia), and
#3 - "mild".  (Individuals with "mild" Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia often don't even know they have it until something triggers an investigation by medical professionals.)

Today, Newborn Screenings identify "most" children with Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia early enough to help offset potentially life threatening issues.
